<div>Hello, I'm Burcu Ornek, founder of the Ornek-Tahama Foundation, and I want to share our story with you.

<div>From a young age, I've been passionate about human rights and supporting those who are disadvantaged. This drive led me to volunteer, organize charity events, and extend support wherever needed. In 2018, I embarked on a journey to Tamale, Ghana, where I immersed myself in the local communities, dedicating months to working alongside grassroots organizations. Inspired by the experience, upon returning to the US, I founded the Ornek-Tahama Foundation with two friends, Anny Duenas and Devin McCarthy, aiming to uplift communities through education, healthcare, and skills development.

<div>Since then, we have worked tirelessly to provide aid to vulnerable villages in Ghana, building bathrooms, digging wells, and distributing school supplies. Our latest endeavor marks a significant milestone as we join forces to construct a learning center in Voggu, in the Northern Region of Ghana, West Africa.

<div>The construction of the learning center represents a significant step forward in addressing socio-economic and environmental challenges gripping Africa while empowering communities to build more resilient and sustainable futures. This initiative is paramount for us because it integrates education, ecological stewardship, and community engagement, contributing to the overall well-being and prosperity of the people. The enrichment classes offered at the center will play a transformative role in nurturing children's creativity. In African contexts where resources and opportunities may be limited, these classes will serve as catalysts for positive change. The practical, hands-on training in agriculture, livestock management, and animal care provided by the center will equip communities with the skills needed to develop more efficient and sustainable food production systems, which will enable community members to generate additional income through the sale of farm products and livestock, thereby lifting families out of poverty. The funds raised for the construction will go towards the construction of the physical infrastructure, educational materials, staffing, and operational expenses.

<div>Merhaba, Ben Burcu Örnek, Ornek-Tahama Vakfı'nın kurucusuyum ve sizinle hikayemizi paylaşmak istiyorum. Küçük yaşlardan itibaren insan haklarına tutkulu oldum ve dezavantajlı olanlara destek olmayı hep istedim. Bu istek beni gönüllülük yapmaya, yardım etkinlikleri düzenlemeye ve ihtiyaç duyulan her yerde destek sağlamaya yönlendirdi. 2018'de, Gana'nın Tamale şehrine bir yolculuğa çıktım ve yerel topluluklara daldım, aylarımı yerel sivil toplum örgütleriyle çalışarak geçirdim. Bu deneyimden ilham alarak, ABD'ye dönüşümde Ornek-Tahama Vakfı'nı kurdum ve eğitim, sağlık ve beceri geliştirme yoluyla toplulukları yükseltmeyi amaçladım.
