Hi, thanks for being here ...
We all share fears and hopes and dreams … a deep interest to have purpose in our day. As humans, we are meant to grow and for many, part of that growth comes with the work we do in the world. Work is our economic security, our ability to care for ourselves and for others. Yet, some people don’t have a mentor or family member available to support them to find work … some people have had a tough road … some people need a second chance … while others just want a chance.
I have a deep affection for Chicago, the city. Its where I started working at 20 years old as an intern and as a forgetful waitress at night. Its where I held my own hopes and dreams, while I took the El train in to work. Its where I started working after college, feeling proud of being on my own and independent. Its where I experienced the glass ceiling, its where I found growth and challenge, its where I felt the pain of unexpected job loss twice, and where I had to get up and try again. And through that, its where I experienced the gratitude for having family, friends, and mentors, and a husband to support me along my work journey.
And Chicago is where I found meaning as a volunteer for ‘The Cara Program”, and instantly recognized the impact they were making to transform lives of people in Chicago who wanted a chance. As part of my deep interest to give thanks to my mentors and family, and give back and pay it forward, I am launching this space and campaign to raise awareness and funds specifically for “The Cara Program”. This is my passion to make a difference, as others have made a difference for me. 100% of funds raised will go to ‘The Cara Program”. ABOUT THE CARA PROGRAM:
