<div><strong>Imagine a world without proper sanitation.</strong> A world where children are at risk of deadly diseases, and communities struggle to thrive. This is the reality for countless people in Kenya.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Humanure Kenya is working to change that. </strong>With your support, we can provide schools and communities with life-changing compost toilets. These innovative sanitation solutions not only prevent the spread of disease but also transform waste into valuable fertilizer, improving food security and environmental health.

<div>I'm Suzie Newcome, the U.S. fundraising manager for Humanure Kenya. This incredible nonprofit is dedicated to transforming lives through ecological sanitation and composting. Their vision is simple yet powerful: <strong>"Healthy people, living in healthy houses, make healthy communities."</strong>

<div>I've had the privilege of working alongside <strong>Samson Muhalia</strong>, Humanure Kenya's founder and country director, for over 25 years. Samson's journey began while working with Habitat for Humanity and Africa Yoga Project, where he witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of poor sanitation on countless communities. Inspired to find a solution, he discovered the potential of human composting.

<div><br />
</div>
<div>Since then, <strong>Humanure Kenya has installed 46 compostable toilets in 7 counties, improving the lives of 5,269 students, 92 kids with disabilities and 200 families.</strong>

<div><strong>How compost toilets work</strong>
</div>
<div>Composting toilets use the natural processes of decomposition and evaporation to recycle human waste. Wastes from these toilets, which are urine, feces and dry saw dust are put in a shade to allow evaporation and decomposition which are then used as natural fertilizer. When human waste is properly composted, the end product does not contain any pathogens or viruses. This nutrient-rich fertilizer can then be used on plants or around base of trees, as part of the natural cycling of nutrients, reducing the need for commercial fertilizers and preserving local water quality. Humanure toilets are inexpensive and very simple to build. They help reduce environmental and water pollution from untreated fecal material. The Humanure system is the simplest form of compost toilet, specifically designed to promote hot composting of human feces, urine and organic cover materials e.g sawdust, dry leaves, grass e.t.c.

<div><strong>What we do...</strong>
</div>
<div>Humanure Kenya is a registered Non-Profit NGO that mostly depends on volunteers and donators across the globe. We improve sanitations in slums, rural areas and to those communities that are in need of dry toilets. We build the toilets including the decomposition shade. Humanure Kenya is also responsible in managing your compost toilets and renovating it when need be, also the control of the wastes is in our hands.
