TRANScend Retreat: Building Leadership, Healing, and Community Together
TRANScend Retreat is evolving, and we’re excited to invite you to support our transformative work for 2024 and beyond! While our annual large retreat will return in October 2025, we’re using this time to deepen our impact through focused leadership development and structural improvement.
This winter, we are hosting our 3rd annual Jasmine Powell Leadership Retreat (JPLR)—a smaller, more intimate gathering centered on transformational leadership and enhancing the structure and experience of future retreats. This pivotal work ensures that when we return in 2025, we’re ready to offer the most impactful, inclusive, and empowering retreat yet.
Now, we need your support to keep this momentum going.
By donating today, you’ll help us:
- Secure our 2025 retreat space at Saratoga Springs, ensuring we continue offering a safe, nurturing environment for trans and genderqueer folks.
- Support our organizing team, a majority of whom are Black TGNC leaders, by funding stipends as planning begins this February.
- Launch a spring incubator to strengthen our board and organizing team, fostering collaboration and resilience ahead of our 2025 retreat.
Your donations have made it possible to sustain this work for over six years, enabling us to:
- Pay fair stipends to everyone involved in our retreats.
- Provide scholarships to attendees, prioritizing BIPOC and those with financial need.
- Expand access through initiatives like the Muhlaysia Booker Travel Fund, which helped us fly 14 Black trans women from the South to attend in 2023.
TRANScend is more than a retreat—it’s a movement.
Designed for and by transgender and genderqueer folks, TRANScend fosters healing, empowerment, and connection. Through workshops, rituals, and joyful moments, we center mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being as cornerstones of strong leadership.
We continue to prioritize Black, Indigenous, and People of Color in our leadership and programming, with 84% of our organizers identifying as BIPOC, 60% as trans, and 40% as genderqueer. Our scholarship program allocates 70% of its funding to BIPOC participants.
Why now?
The past year has underscored the growing need for safe spaces where trans and genderqueer folks can heal, organize, and build coalitions. Amid heightened attacks on our rights, spaces like TRANScend are critical for cultivating joy, resilience, and community.
Your support is vital to continuing this legacy. Every dollar helps us invest in trans leadership, build sustainable structures, and offer life-changing experiences for our community.
Let’s make 2024 a year of strengthening our foundation and preparing for the return of the TRANScend Retreat in 2025. Together, we can create a brighter future for trans and genderqueer folks everywhere.
Donate, share, and spread the word—help us keep the spirit of TRANScend alive!
