Liebe Freund*innen, wir - die VivaTS – haben eine einmalige Gelegenheit beim Schopf gepackt, eine der bekanntesten Trans*Aktivist*innen der Welt nach Europa, nach München einzuladen, Gloria Virginia Davenport Fentanes aus Mexico.
Gloria ist die erste Transfrau in „The mexican Women’s Parliament“, Präsidentin der „Human Rights Comission“ und der „Women Journalist Protection Comission“. Sie kämpft seit sehr vielen Jahren für die Rechte von trans*Menschen.
Die Situation in Mexiko ist dramatisch. Seit vielen Jahren flüchten immer mehr Menschen aus Zentral- und Südamerika nach Mexiko, in der Hoffnung, sich in den USA ein neues Leben aufzubauen. Darunter viele trans*Menschen, die aus ihren Heimatländern vor Diskriminierung auf dem Arbeits- und Wohnungsmarkt, vor Anfeindungen, Gewalt und Mordanschlägen flüchten müssen. Durch die US-amerikanische „Mauerpolitik“ und die Kriminalisierung von Migrant*innen bleiben sie in Mexiko stecken.
Wir haben für Oktober ein einzigartiges Event geplant, bei dem ihr aus erster Hand die großen Sorgen und Nöte, aber auch die Überlebens- und Handlungsstrategien kennen lernen werdet, die die mexikanische Trans*Community ausmachen. Damit ihr mit allen Sinnen einen Eindruck von dem Land bekommt, werden wir euch auch Kultur erleben lassen, Musik, Kunst, Essen, lasst euch überraschen!
Weltweit leiden trans*Menschen unter den gleichen Formen von Gewalt und Exklusion. Wir glauben daran, dass wir alle stärker sind, wenn wir uns gegenseitig unterstützen und voneinander lernen.
Wir haben unter großem Aufwand eine solide Planung aufgestellt, aber für die Reisekosten können wir nicht auf institutionelle Geldgeber zurück greifen. Deswegen rufen wir die ganze Community zur finanziellen Unterstützung auf. Gebt bitte alle soviel ihr könnt!
Wir können nicht zu hundert Prozent garantieren, dass Gloria letztendlich kommen kann, z.B. weil ihr die Ausreise verweigert wird. In dem Fall, wie auch für den Fall, dass die Spenden die Reisekosten übersteigen, möchten wir mit dem Geld die mexikanische Trans*Community unterstützen. Sie leisten ihre wertvolle Arbeit unter schwersten Bedingungen und jeder Euro kann helfen.

Dear friends, we - the VIVA TS - have seized a unique opportunity, to
invite one of the most famous Trans*activists in the world to Europe,
to Munich, Gloria Virginia Davenport Fentanes from Mexico.
Gloria is the first
trans*woman in The Mexican Women's Parliament, President of the Human
Rights Commission and the Women Journalist Protection Commission. She
has been fighting for the rights of trans*people for many years.
The situation in
Mexico is dramatic. For many years, more and more people from Central
and South America are fleeing to Mexico, hoping to build a new life
in the United States. Including many trans*people who have to flee
from their home countries because of discrimination in the labor and
housing market, from hostility, violence and assassination. Due to
the US "wall politics" and the criminalization of migrants
they get stuck in Mexico.
We have a one-of-a-kind event planned for October, where you will get to know firsthand the great concerns and needs, but also the survival and action strategies that make up the Mexican Trans*family. In order to get an impression of the country with all your senses, we will also let you experience culture through music, art and food, let yourself be surprised!
Trans*People worldwide suffer from the same forms of violence and exclusion. We believe that we are all stronger if we support each other and learn from each other.
We have made a sound plan with great effort, but we can not rely on institutional financiers for travel expenses. That's why we're calling the whole community for financial support. Please give all you can!
We can not rule out that Gloria can not come after all, e.g. because she is denied the exit. In that case, as well as if the donations exceed travel costs, we would like to use the money to support the Mexican Trans*community. They do their valuable work in the toughest conditions and every euro can help.
