Trans Youth Couple Homeless Fund
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Jay and my partner and I are in need of emergency housing. We are two transgender individuals currently staying in a motel until Fri Feb 21st 2025. We were living with my parents since April 2024 but we are no longer safe there. We could use some financial assistance in paying for first and last month's rent for a new place as well as moving expenses.
My partner is officially homeless as of this week. She is no longer welcome in my family's home according to my abusive parent. She has nowhere else to go, since her family and friends do not have enough space or money to support her.
Apparently I am still welcome in the house, but as I said, I do not feel safe. I never wanted to move back in with my parents in the first place due to their ongoing verbal and emotional/psychological abuse.
I have been job searching for two years with very little luck. It does not help that I have been receiving inadequate treatment for my severe ADHD, and this does not combine well with our poor living situation.
My partner has enough savings to keep herself afloat for a few months, but she was laid off in January earlier this year, so neither of us have a steady proof of income. I had to drop out of art school in the summer of 2023 because OSAP did not provide me enough funding for basic necessities. I have been job hunting since then.
We are reaching out to as many local resources as we can. I am currently trying to get on Ontario Works and ODSP. In the meantime, I need some financial support. Absolutely anything helps. Thank you for reading.
PS Cover photo was taken Feb 12 while visiting my older sibling and their partner. The two of them have been so supportive and hospitable throughout all of this. They are helping us find resources and a temporary place to call home. They are all we've got right now, and I love them to no end.
