Training in Japan Senior Project
Donation protected
As part of my Senior Study Abroad project at Basis Oro Valley Charter High School, I am going to Japan to study martial arts and Japanese culture for the month of February 2018. My studies will allow me to compare and contrast the differences in the teaching of martial arts and the culture in the United States vs. Japan. I have been training in martial arts since I was five years old, recently I received my Shodan (Black Belt) in Matsuno Ryu Goshinjitsu from Sensei John McGraugh, Shihan, at Kodenkan Martial Arts Academy of Tucson. Osaka Japan is where Matsuno Ryu Goshinjitsu is rooted. My plan is to study at the same schooland style of martial arts as Shihan McGraugh, who spent five years in Japan when he was a young man. When I get back to the States I will apply the philosophies that I learn to my teaching of martial arts. This experience will help enable me to pass on the personal growth that I will have found to the people that I teach. I estimate I will need $4,000 for my one month stay in Japan. Any donation would be greatly appreciated. For more information on Kodenkan or Matsuno Ryu Goshinjitsu please visit www.kmaadojo.com. I will be posting updates every couple of weeks to my blog, https://wordpress.com/customize/denalikeefeseniorproject.wordpress.com.
