Cancer! It may be one of the scariest words in our language. We all hope it never sneaks into our lives. I didn't realized cancer would be even scarier when it wasn't me facing the beast. I have spent the six months helpless, watching one of the bravest people I know face the cancer beast. It's a mother's worst fear come to life when your child is told they have cancer. My worst fears came to life in May 2017. My daughter Tracy was diagnosed with cancer.

Tracy is a light in this world. Her love for people and life is simply infectious. If you know her, you love her.  Now, she needs our help.

2017 has been one of the most difficult years of Tracy's life. Thinking back, the last few months are a whirlwind of hospitals, doctors, medications, and tears. Tracy's journey started in April with an abnormal test result. The world stopped turning for a brief moment in May when she heard the "C" word. We were told she had cervical cancer.

Just after the diagnosis, there is a fog. As I said, the world stops and Everything. Goes. Dark. Then even more suddenly, the jolt back to reality by a tidal wave of treatment plans. The fear really toke hold as we began to understand how aggresively the doctor laid out Tracy's treatment plan.

You know those doctors appointments that have to be made two months in advance? Well, when you have cancer, they get you in the next day. That's the part the jolts you to reality. Our TRACY was the emergency patient. With one look in a microscope, her calendar for the next 5 months was wiped clean. Doctors appointments and hospital visits, surgeries all came first. Beating cancer was the only priority and the doctor made that clear.

Our doctor wasn't messing around. In the span of a few hours Tracy was on medical leave and surgery was scheduled. Byopsy, chemo thereapy, radiation all words flying at Tracy before she could even tell her friends. Sitting on that exam table, she was alone and the doctor wasn't giving her time to rally troops. This was her fight. Even a pause to think about her daughter wasn't offered. Treatment was the consideration.

Somehow, Tracy managed a smile through it all. I still don't know how she did it. After months of treatment, we believe that Tracy has beaten this ugly disease. Isn't that where "The End" is supposed to float onto the screen with happy music playing in the background? It doesn't work that way in real life. In real life, the hard stuff just keeps coming.

Tracy won't know until November if the the cancer is gone. Now she begins the toughest journey. The journey of uncertainty and faith, the journey to rebuild.

Tracy has to put her life back together. You see, in the midst of her cancer battle, Tracy's marriage also calpsed. Now, after the relief of being cancer free, Tracy has more questions than answers in front of her.  The medical bills alone would drown a weaker person. Saying goodbye to the home she loves hasn't pulled our Tracy under either. Our Tracy, she really is starting over and starting over is hard. Even still, she keeps swimming, every hour of every day continuing to fight for her new life.

Tracy has not been cleared to return to work. It is uncertain when that will happen. That is why we need your help. Now is when we can join Tracy in her fight. Those who love her can offer more than words of encouragement in this new beginning. I am reaching out to those who love Tracy most for help. Tracy needs funds to help pay for her treatment expenses and support herself and her daughter. While Tracy continues to heal and regain strength we have the opportunity to help. Would you consider a contribution to help Tracy rebuild her life?
