Tracy Tripp's TBI Recovery

Donation protected
Tracy Tripp survived a near fatal motorcycle accident in August 2015. He was in a coma for 5 ½ months,  spent over a month in hospital intensive care and an additional 2 years in a skilled nursing facility before being discharged in October 2017. Tracy awoke from his coma on December 24, the day after his birthday and the day before Christmas!

Tracy is now recuperating at home and being cared for by his mother, Vicki Tripp. In addition to his physical injuries and limitations, Tracy suffers from Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and loss of memory. He is receiving physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy twice a week and participates in two group therapy clinics weekly. He most recently underwent two hand surgeries and receives hand therapy.

In addition to his therapies, he is currently being seen by numerous specialists including a neurologist, a psychologist, a neuro-ophthalmologist, a neuro-psychologist, and a neuro-optometrist, all specializing in brain injuries.

While progress is slow but steady, with Tracy’s prognosis, he will need years of continuing care. His elderly mother is his sole caretaker at home and is confronted with escalating out of pocket medical and living expenses including prescriptions totaling $ 1100 a month! Living on a fixed income while caring for a physically and emotionally handicapped adult child is very difficult.

As a mother myself, I can’t imagine the emotional heartache, physical work, and financial dilemma she now finds herself in dedicated to making sure her son has the care he needs to continue his recovery. I am awed by her unconditional love and devotion to his healing the past few years.

If you are able to share a little compassion and monetary contribution towards his ongoing care, it would be sincerely appreciated. Please share with others who may be able to join us in our support of Tracy’s life. Thank you.
