Tracy and Richard are Fighting for their lives

Tracy and Richard  are Fighting for their Lives

Richard and Tracy Stuart are two very compassionate and caring
people. Despite all their unfortunate health experiences they are positive and take time to give back and acknowledge others. Imagine a husband and wife each having a life-threatening disease at the same time. Just when you think you can help your husband you find out your health is compromised. Trying to deal with illness is overwhelming but dealing with the emotional and medical expenses  of two people ill at the same time is unimaginable..

Richard, a diabetic, was told in 2017 that he would need dialysis in 2 years. In the summer of 2018 his kidney function dropped rapidly and  was told to look for a kidney donor. Tracy, his wife, jumped at the chance to donate one of her kidneys. After doing the blood work she found out she was a match. However, there were more tests before she could be accepted as a donor. When her blood work came back she was told she had myeloma, cancer of the plasma, this was devasting news for both of them. They felt they could monitor the cancer but the doctor wanted to do one more test to make sure the cancer hadn’t attacked her bones. A few days after the test she was informed that she had tumours on her bone and would have to start chemo in January and Richard starts dialysis on Jan 8th . Tracy will need at least five months of chemotherapy and then a stem cell transplant which will require her to stay in Vancouver for a month.

Meanwhile, as Richard was preparing to get ready for dialysis he found out he has heart problems and will need stents implanted and he also has a hernia.

Tracy felt devasated that she couldn't donate a kidney to Richard so if you or anyone you know would like to donate a kidney please email: www.kidneydonornurse@vch.ca .

Richard’s blood is A+ but he can accept O, AB, or A

The Go Fund Me fundraiser is a way to help with the many costs associated with their health journey. Neither Tracy or Richard are able to work and are going to have to fund their expenses on a limited income. Furthermore, neither will be able to support the other as they are both going for treatment at the same time. Paying for two people traveling to and from the hospital, staying in Vancouver and Victoria for treatments, paying for parking and meals etc. are very costly. The money raised will go towards the costs associated with their care. Any amount, no matter how small will go towards easing some of the stress being felt by Tracy and Richard. We appreciate you taking the time to consider helping in whatever capacity you can

Please take five minutes out of your day to share Tracy and Richard’s story to as many people as possible. A quick email or a post on Facebook will make all the difference in creating a successful fundraising campaign for them.!
