This is the story of our Mum, Tracy Allen.

We are starting this fundraising page after Mum suffered a horrible accident which has left her needing ongoing support so she can come out of hospital. Our greatest hope would be for Mum to be able to spend Christmas Day with us in her own home.

In March Mum suffered three cardiac arrests in a row, as a result she was put into a coma for a few weeks. Due to oxygen starvation she suffered a hypoxic brain injury which has affected her mobility, vision and memory. In addition to this Mum has ongoing COPD and Chronic Kidney Disease.

After four weeks she was moved from intensive care onto the respiratory high dependency unit. In order to be weened off her breathing tube, it was vital to build her strength up again. She has now managed to breathe by herself unaided by the machine.

The next few weeks she had to learn how to talk and swallow again. She started Physiotherapy gradually and after three months was moved to a neurological rehabilitation hospital.

Currently Mum is still in this hospital and she continues to make progress thanks to intense physio.

She can quietly speak and every week her voice is getting stronger. Her core strength and arm mobility has improved and Mum can now sit in a wheelchair and move from her bed to her wheelchair with assistance.

At this stage we're looking at another 3-6 months rehab before she can come home.

Mum’s vision has been significantly impaired, which is why Doctors have advised that the best place for Mum would be in her own home where she has lived for twenty years. Moving to a different accommodation would prove extremely difficult practically and emotionally for her and our family.

In order for the Doctor’s and our families wishes to keep Mum in her home we are trying to raise enough money to make it accessible for her.

Mum needs a stairlift so she can access her bathroom and the bedroom. This has been quoted to cost £2000.

There’s a limit to the funding the NHS can do to support the modifications needed. Which is why we’ve decided to ask friends and family if they can help towards getting mum these improvements so she can stay in her home.

If we manage to raise anymore money this will go towards an adaptable shower for her.

We're hoping to get these modifications done in the hope that Mum could come home for the day at Christmas.

Anything little will go a long way so any amount would be hugely appreciated. Thank you all for reading our story!
