Trackchat is a social media platform and it is also an app (currently through a browser; app will follow soon). It has two basic functions, the first as a social media platform for athletes and clubs, allowing interaction and communication. The second is the ability to track and log club members as they attend club events, training sessions, competitions, making the track and trace for Covid-19 far simpler! This is crucial today where clubs existence relies on them being able to track and trace their athletes. It can support any type of sports club whilst offering a safe online community for clubs and members where people can interact with each other in their club, or with people from other clubs. If you are part of multiple sports clubs, for example, athletics, tennis and dancing, you can still share with all of them on Trackchat in a safe and fun way!

There are three key functions that Trackchat offers that can benefit clubs organisations, schools and individuals:

·         Social Media

Users can post jokes, photos, videos, quips (a photo with the availability of adding a speech bubble to it), creating a magazine and more! You may be thinking that is just the same as any other social media platform, but it’s not, it has other features that makes it unique!

·         Club management

Allows clubs (including schools) to manage their members, offers Safeguarding tools and provides a safe area for club members to post – almost like having a dedicated social media environment for each club

·         Advertising

Allows clubs and organisations to promote events, competitions etc. to a defined set of users / clubs

Social Media

These are some of the things you can do on the social media aspect of Trackchat;

·         Photos & Videos

You can upload photos and short videos (length of up to 30 seconds).

·         Articles

Write articles and create topics for users to interact with and contribute to

·         Magazines

Make your own magazines from your posts or anyone else’s posts that you can see. Magazines can be shared so great for setting up subject groups, class magazines or shared event newsletters (and even comic strips!)

·         Quips

A bit like turning your photo into a meme. Quips allow you to add funny bits to photos including audio clips, speech bubbles – just like you’re creating a cartoon strip

·         Clubs

You can post what you like to your club (or clubs), and the members of that club will see your posts. This is great to show what you and your fellow clubbers are up to and what exercises and fun sporty thing they are doing, especially in lockdown!

·         Sharing

As you’d expect you can share anything you post to whoever you choose. One important feature though; when you post as a member of a club, within that club then only fellow members of that club can see your posts. This provides extra security and reassurance for parents and guardians around the visibility of your posts

Club management

Trackchat is open to individuals, clubs and organisations. For registered clubs (and a club can include a school or school PE class), the following features are available:

·         Ability to track and trace athletes to comply with government guidelines

·         Ability to manage club members

·         Any member who themselves have joined Trackchat can post to their club knowing only other members of that club will have visibility

·         Ability for club leaders to manage groups, sessions

·         Ability to apply athlete & club context-based governing rules on age classifications

·         Ability to track and log club members as they attend club events, training sessions, competitions.

·         Ability for club members to self-sign-in and out of club sessions through a “visiting the doctors” style sign-in tool

·         Club member attendance reports and analytics

·         Rapid access to Emergency Contact details and club-related medical details supporting the club’s safeguarding requirements

Overall the club management helps the club with its safeguarding duties of care towards its members and leaders.

How does the registration work?
Well, it is like how you sign into the doctors. You go to Trackchat and then start!

1.       Pick out of the alphabet which letter you last name starts with.

2.       Then click what month you were born in.

3.       And finally click what date your birthday is (out of all 31 options)

And that’s it, its really quick and easy. Then if you want to sign out, you just do the exact same steps as before, and then you are done!

We have just recently introduced this signing in mechanism to Holland Sports, and it work really well! Especially as it is quick, rapid access to emergency contact details of parents/carers, it has GPS and you can see which athletes have signed into that session and out again, to make sure they are safe and you know they have left safely. On Trackchat you can also see the frequency of the athletes training and how long they were training for.

Safety first!

·         If you are under 16 you have restricted features and require parent’s consent.

·         There is full privacy for protection.

·         Club members do not need to have a Trackchat account in order to benefit from session registration.

Digital advertising; given the platform is free to use for regular users, a way for Trackchat to re-coup the cost of running is to allow advertising as part of the social media. This allows organisations and clubs to promote events or things at a cost.
