Tracie needs help fighting cancer

Donation protected
I am setting up this fundraiser for the care and additional expenses that may arise for my sister, Tracie McGuire. Her fight against cancer started over a year ago, and it is very aggressive. They have been having a hard time getting it under control, and she will be having a life changing surgery at the end of the month. She is also still seeking other opinions and options. This fundraiser will help to cover the costs that and added expenses that insurance will not cover.

My sister is a wonderful mom of four and was diagnosed with stage III bladder cancer in August of 2019.  I have watched Tracie fight this monster for over a year. First she did chemotherapy for three months.  She was expected to then have a massive surgery to remove her bladder at the end of December, 2019 but that didn’t happen because the chemotherapy didn’t do the job it needed too. Her doctors decided to try immunotherapy, which she has been doing all of 2020.  Thankfully, Covid19 has not disrupted her treatment schedule.  Tracie’s strength and faith throughout all of this has been amazing.

About three months ago, Tracie started to experience some pain and as the days/weeks went by the pain increased to the point that she was hospitalized for a week to get the pain under control. She is now on several different medications to help control the pain. Many of them cause drowsiness so her ability to take care of her family is a struggle. Simple things like making meals she can’t do currently.

Tracie’s best chance at beating this cancer now is to go through with that surgery to remove her bladder as well as over a dozen lymph nodes.  This surgery will take place on November 27th. It is a 6-7 hour surgery. She is expected to be in the hospital for a week and then will have a home health nurse to help her during the first 4-6 weeks at home. This is a very difficult surgery to recovery from and Matt, her husband, will be taking FMLA for the whole month of December to be there to help her, as well as take care of the kids and the house.

Tracie is also in the process of trying to get second opinions from other cancer centers.  This may require some travel in the future.

This Go Fund Me campaign will be used for expenses related to Tracie’s care, including but not limited to medical bills, transportation, and other necessities that are not covered by insurance. It will also help to cover the additional cost of take-out meals, as Tracie can not cook much right now, and with bills that are not covered by Insurance as her husband, Matt, has to take more time off to help Tracie and be there for the doctors appointments/surgeries.

By donating, you are helping lift the financial burden off her family so that they can just focus on her and beating this cancer.

If you are not comfortable with Go Fund Me or donating online - you can also give directly to the account set up for her care by mailing a check directly to Matt McGuire, 12918 W Meadow Ln, New Berlin. WI 53151
