<div>This is Boris. He is our beloved 12-year-old pug. My wife and I adopted him right after we moved in together, and he has watched our family grow from one child (my stepson) to three children.

<div>Since last year, he started coughing a lot, and after months of going from one vet to another, he was diagnosed with tracheal collapse. He is suffering. Often, especially at night, he coughs desperately for air.
</div>

<div>On the recommendation of our veterinarian, we took him to the Veterinary Hospital at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich. The diagnosis of tracheal collapse was confirmed, and the placement of a stent to open the airway was proposed.
</div>

<div>Unfortunately, the procedure at LMU costs €4,500, and we are in a very bad financial situation. In Spain, it costs less, €2,800, but we still don't have that kind of money.
</div>

<div>My family and I migrated from Uruguay (South America) to Germany two years ago. I am a mechanical engineer, but I have been unemployed since March due to our most recent move, and I have not found anything after more than 400 applications for all kinds of jobs. My wife is a schoolteacher, but her degree is not recognized in Germany and no one will hire her because she does not yet know the language. We and our three children are surviving thanks to Bürgergeld. Although we are confident that the situation will improve, our beloved dog cannot wait. If he does not receive his stent soon, he will die, even though in other respects he is quite healthy and has time ahead of him.

<div>We need help to save him. His condition cannot be treated without surgery. It is not just something that diminishes his quality of life. The alternative is death by suffocation.

<div>Auf Empfehlung unserer Tierärztin haben wir ihn in die Tierklinik der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München gebracht. Dort wurde die Diagnose Trachealkollaps bestätigt und die Implantation eines Stents zur Öffnung der Atemwege vorgeschlagen.

<div>Leider kostet der Eingriff an der LMU 4.500 € und trifft uns in einer finanziell sehr schwierigen Zeit. In Spanien kostet er weniger, 2.800 Euro, aber wir haben trotzdem nicht so viel Geld.

<div>Meine Familie und ich sind vor zwei Jahren aus Uruguay (Südamerika) nach Deutschland ausgewandert. Ich bin Maschinenbauingenieur, aber seit März arbeitslos, aufgrund unseres letzten Umzugs, und habe nach mehr als vierhundert Bewerbungen auf alle möglichen Stellen noch nichts gefunden. Meine Frau ist Lehrerin, aber ihr Abschluss wird in Deutschland nicht anerkannt, und niemand stellt sie ein, weil sie die Sprache noch nicht beherrscht. Wir und unsere drei Kinder überleben dank des Bürgergeldes. Wir vertrauen zwar darauf, dass sich die Situation verbessert, aber unser geliebter Hund kann nicht warten. Wenn er nicht bald seinen Stent bekommt, wird er sterben, obwohl er ansonsten ziemlich gesund ist und noch Zeit vor sich hat.

<div>Wir brauchen Hilfe, um ihn zu retten. Ohne Operation ist sein Zustand nicht behandelbar. Es geht nicht nur um eine Einschränkung seiner Lebensqualität. Die Alternative ist der Tod durch Ersticken.
