My name is Javier Salazar, and I have set up this GoFundMe for my mother, Tracey Ortiz in an effort to help out as much as we can for the losses she has experienced in extensive water damage throughout her home.
For those who don’t know my mom, she is someone who always has a way of making people feel so welcomed, especially in her home. It has been a place of gatherings not only for family but also friends. My mother has also been considered a front line employee since the beginning of the pandemic working in heavy COVID-19 units as a Respiratory Therapist. She had dedicated her life to taking care of others in her job and loved ones around her, and often volunteering to shelter dogs when she can until they are adopted to avoid euthanization.
After returning from spending the holiday weekend with her two son’s Santiago and myself, she was greeted with one of the worst unforeseen damages to her home imaginable. A pipe had burst and leaked water throughout the home the entire weekend. My mom has done the best she can to salvage what was not damaged, but we have faced the hard reality of losing baby pictures, furniture, mattresses, clothes, and the overall structure of the house.
In a walk through, the damages from the water leak have left the insulation, dry wall, hard wood floors, and carpet completely ruined. Costs are expected to be more than $80,000. I have set a goal of $35,000 to help cover construction costs and materials needed to fix the excessive damaged areas.
I owe so much of my own personal success and growth to my mother and her constant love and support. I know times are tough right now for everyone but anything helps, and we appreciate anyone who is able to contribute during this time. My mom is without a home and I am trying my best to make sure someone who has devoted her life to helping others during a pandemic has a place to lay her head at the end of the day.
