Now he's a 7yo Boxer/Pit mix that cannot be loved enough. He was rescued from an abandoned home in South Seattle. He was a handful (of love) from the start. He's been with us through thick and thin and now it's time for us to return the favor. After nearly a year of head scratching, x-rays and a couple of pain management courses, we finally have an answer to his limp: a partial tear of his "doggy ACL".
The Solution: TPLO Surgery. The true beauty of the surgery is that it completely alters the dynamics of the knee. Once the bone is cut and rotated the tibial plateau, where the femur and the tibia communicate, no longer can slide backwards. The knee is immediately stabilized. By doing so, this eliminates the need for the ACL ligament entirely and returns stability to the joint immediately.
Here's the downside: It costs a bit more than $5k.
You all know that we're not living on the street, nor are we suffering/wanting in any way shape or form. What we are, is light on cash reserves with limited access to credit. After moving just over a year ago into a home nearly 100yrs in the making, we've drained the cash and financing we secured to get it into tip top shape.
You should also know, if you're reading this, that we return favors and keep promises. If you are able to help us fund a portion of his surgical expenses, we'd gladly help in any way we can with whatever you might need or want. As a reminder, I like to cook/feed people, have another dog to loan out for cuddling time and/or a husband who loves to garden.
Truly, anything helps and would be appreciated.
