Mom's Medical/Cancer Treatment Fund

If you've ever met my mother then you know what an absolutely phenomenal woman she is. My mother, Toy Chan, has spent her life living for others.  Her heart's capacity to love knows no bounds and it is evident in everything she does and to everyone she meets.

We've all faced struggles, turmoil, loss and more in our lives. My mother has had her fair share of those as well and has tried her very hardest to continuously wear a smile and face her problems with optimism. I have admired that about her for as long as I can remember.
She always taught me that as long as we have love in our hearts, everything else will be okay.

Recently, she was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer.  Doctors have found a tumor that is inoperable at this time. Her outlook on it is strong and she is eager to fight it. I have all the faith in the world that our love and prayers will help her through this. Her emotional support system is large and we are so very grateful for that. She has so many friends and family members that wish her well everyday and keep her in their prayers consistently.

As some of you already know, she has been in the hospital for about 2 months now. She has been dealing with some complications from the double gastric bypass surgery that she had when she was first admitted. We are taking it day by day and hoping to build her strength enough to get her home soon. Our home is simply not the same without her in it.

The plan as it stands now is to get her home so that she can begin chemotherapy treatment as soon as possible. While I have not been given a timeframe by her doctors as to how long that will take, I am optimistic that it will be sometime in November.

We are unclear as to whether or not mom will be able to return to work when she is released from the hospital. She would like to of course, because it will add some semblance of normalcy to her life again after being sedentary for so many weeks. Realistically however, we are prepared to hear that she may not be able to whilst undergoing chemotherapy.

Even though she is still in the hospital and has medical coverage for now, the bills have been pouring in. Her insurance just isnt covering what we had hoped it would. We are trying to speak to the hospital in regards to lowering the existing bills in some way so that we will be able to afford her treatments in the future with chemotherapy.

If you feel it in your hearts to be able to donate towards her cause we would be eternally grateful.  Please send prayers our way because faith is what we have been leaning on recently.

I will update as often as I can when/if  things change on her condition. Thank you to everyone who took the time out to read this and to send uplifting thoughts and prayers to my family.

If anyone would like to contact  my mother, please do so through me. She will receive EVERY single message and we will try to have her get back to you when she can.
