There and Back Again: Towards Berlin

Donation protected
The past few years, since finishing university I've been on a very unorthodox and unpredictable journey.  All this culminated recently with me making a film titled Paul Wong: Breaking the Silence.

The film is a message dear to my heart, about the diasporic experiences of a senior, queer, radical, Chinese-Canadian media artist. The piece speaks to the importance of having your voice heard despite being oppressed by society, knowingly and unknowingly, and its message is especially important today, right now in this moment, for all marginalized communities and members from those who are BIPOC (Black Indigenous People of Colour) and LGBTG2S+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, Two-Spirit, plus).

So what's up now, you might be wondering ....?

I recently found out my film has been selected at the REC Film Festival  in Berlin. Out of 600+ films from over 35 countries, one of the films chosen to be screened during the five-day festival is .... mine. Is ours. Furthermore, the piece is the only film representing a Northwestern corner of Turtle Island i.e. Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

While this is recognition enough, I'm not done yet and would love to push both the film as well as my own practice further. With the last minute notice, I need an infusion of cash to be able to afford this trip and benefit from the industry experts and insiders who will be in attendance. That is it in a nutshell.

It would mean the work gets better, I get better, and as someone who values community, you know I do, a rising tide lifts all boats. Please help out and chip in whatever you can! Every little bit helps and if you can donate nothing but your time in watching the film, share this crowdfunding campaign with others where you can.
