Tourism Guides of Oman

Hello Friends, The travel industry has been devastated by the Covid-19 pandemic. All over the world, the livelihoods of many who rely on tourism have completely dried up. With no visitors, there is simply no income. Many of you will know of my passion for the wonderful Sultanate of Oman. A few of you will personally know some of the wonderful Omani guides, and recall the pride they have for their country, and the joy they bring to visitors in their care. I am sure, when you remember those experiences you feel their pride in your core. I've never done this before, but I am hoping to tap into your generosity to support a small number of Omani driver-guides who, because of the remote places they call home, have been unable to 'pivot' into any other employment this year. I understand it’s a difficult time for all of us, but even the smallest sum would be gratefully received and help them ride out the bleak financial reality they find themselves in. These wonderful people have looked after my travel agent and client groups, friends and family on many occasions over the years sharing adventures and making dreams come true. Their income is 100% dependent on visitors like you and I and with the main European markets going into lock down again and Australian international borders still closed there is another missed season looming. My visit to Oman this March was the last time our guides said hello and goodbye to their treasured guests. They survived a very hot summer in long-term lockdown, supported their older children as best as possible and younger children through many months of home schooling. There is little if any local support for contract workers who are reliant on seasonal tourism for their income. Most of the guides have young families to support, bank loans to service, and are extremely anxious about the future. I do hope you can help. Thank you so much. Kind Regards Sandra
