After coming out as trans non-binary in March 2020, just as the world we all knew was changing rapidly and scarily, I was left feeling isolated, vulnerable, and desperate. Despite the massive disruption of these unprecedented times, Chrysalis were there for me.
Chrysalis is a small charity, which provides support to trans+, non-binary, and questioning people, and their families. They work tirelessly to help people who are going through an incredibly difficult, confusing, and even scary time of their lives.
From the 13-26 August 2020, I am cycling across Britain with my teenaged son, and my partner will be supporting us by towing a caravan so that we are as self-sufficient as possible, and able comply with social distancing rules across the country (which can change at short notice).
We are doing this to raise money for Chrysalis, and support their vital, even life-saving work. Every donation, no matter how small, will help.
During our journey which begins at Lands’ End and ends at John O’Groats , we aim to get as many people involved as possible, so we can raise awareness of trans+ issues, and start positive conversations about gender identity. This tour is about sending a message that, just like the rest of society, trans people are just human beings who want to live a happy, safe and peaceful life.
We’re encouraging trans+ people, their friends, families, and allies across the country to get on their bikes and ride with us, taking part in theor own pRideAlong and posting photos on social media with the hastag "tourdetrans". By taking part, people can show their pride and support and help raise money for Chrysalis.
