Touchdown!! Elliott scores again! He can’t be stopped! All county, all state, one of the best eastern North Carolina has ever seen! These, and many others, were the accolades used to describe my eldest brother’s football talent. Countless Friday nights he was the topic of discussion. Well a long time has passed since he hung up his cleats. And he’s traded football for another game; the game of Life. It is with a heavy heart, I dread to inform you, Demetrius Elliott, Sr. is sick. The man we all know and love, a.k.a. “Ted” has cancer. (pause….take a second to catch your breath)

Ted was diagnosed with cancer last month. There are no words to describe how I felt, upon hearing the statement “Ted has cancer.” How dare the devil put my 47 year old brother’s name, and the word cancer, in the same sentence. This time the devil chose the wrong victim, and most definitely the wrong family!! Unfortunate for Lucifer, I’m related to generation after generation of a praying people.

Ted will begin a chemo and radiation combo therapy at Duke Medical Center in Durham, NC. He will undergo treatment for seven weeks. The timeframe of treatment is to include the Christmas holidays, as well as his wedding anniversary on New Year’s Day. During his therapy cycles, he will be unable to work. Therefore, I humbly pray you’d follow my lead, and donate to the Team Ted Go Fund Me campaign. I’m asking each and everyone, who know and love Ted, to please pray and donate, as you feel led. Every donation, regardless of the amount, will be graciously accepted and is greatly appreciated. If you feel compelled to go above and beyond, then Team Ted T-shirts are also available for purchase. The cost of each shirt is $25 ($10 per shirt goes to Ted) Please see link below. Also, please take a photo in your T-shirt to post, and comment how you know Ted. (i.e.-cousin, friend, co-worker, friend of a friend, etc.) The pics will serve as great visual reminder of all those he has cheering him on. Just as my big brother was kicking butts and taking names on the football field, he’s gearing up to do it all over again. Cancer doesn’t stand a chance. Please keep my family in your prayers. What a MIGHTY GOD we serve!
