Free Our Friend

URGENT: Help to raise $16,000 to free a community member and friend held in ICE detention. His situation is very sensitive. He was attacked and went into hiding in his home country for his sexuality.  For his safety and protection, we cannot state which country he is from, except to say that he is from a country on the African continent where his sexuality is treated as a crime. After finally making it to Mexico, he crossed the border and is now detained — in ‘the land of the free’ — for his forced migration. He plans to become a Virginian. You can help to liberate him from detention by making a contribution towards his ICE bond.

Bond has been set at $25,000, with $9,000 already raised. Please show solidarity with our friend by making a contribution today. 

Cville Immigrant Freedom Fund (CIFF) and SANTOS En Virginia Migrant Defense Fund (SANTOS) request your participation in this urgent campaign. Donations will be collected through GoFundMe and distributed by Cville Immigrant Freedom Fund, which will in turn coordinate with his family to post bond. Any monies over and above his bond amount will be utilized by CIFF to free someone else in ICE detention. Please note: Because funds are being raised for this specific individual, contributions to support his freedom are not tax-deductible.
