Torres/Pino Family Hurricane Relief

Donation protected
Update 10/2/17:

Thank you to everyone that has donated. We EXCEEDED the goal by $1,290! The response was overwhelming and we are excited to get the money to everyone on the island.

Here's where your money will be going:

$2,500 to the Torres/Pino family
     - My grandmother, aunt, cousins, and their kids. Split between 5 groups of family ($500/each)
     - This will be deposited directly into their account.

$1,250 to United for Puerto Rico (Unidos por Puerto Rico)

$1,250 to Save the Children

All remaining funds ($1,290 as of this update) will be given to One America Appeal which will help victims of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria.

Many people will be receiving help thanks to all of you. I will be withdrawing the money and will distribute it as soon as  GoFundMe releases it to me.

I'll post a new update as soon as it is distributed.

THANK YOU!

Hurricane Maria devastated the island of Puerto Rico and the rest of the Caribbean on September 20. Two weeks before that, Hurricane Irma hit the island. Some people haven't had power in 20 days.

Many are still without basic needs like food, water, power, and access to cell service to get in touch with loved ones.

My name is Charlie and I'm the grandson, nephew, and cousin of the individuals I'm raising this money for. I currently live in Boston. My immediate family are some of those people. My Grandmother, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins live all around the island. I've received one Facebook message from my Aunt which informed me that they are all OK, but without access to fresh water, gas, and power. It has been nearly impossible to get ahold of them otherwise.

I've set up this fund which is going to go directly to my family and their neighborhood community. Split 50/50. Every single cent after GoFundMe takes their fees.

Our immediate goal is to provide my family a little more financial support to help them through the next few weeks until the infrastructure improves as well as providing food, water, and shelter for other families in the area.

Of course, if you feel more comfortable donating to the larger relief effort, please do. Anything you can provide will help.
