Toro softball stolen equipment fund

Donation protected
On March 3rd 2022 the Cal State Dominguez Hills softball team was traveling to play against Sonoma state in their upcoming conference series. The team arrived at the Oakland airport and planned to make a stop at a local Starbucks before driving an additional two hours to their hotel. While orders were being placed, the team noticed men in ski masks breaking car windows and removing luggage from the travel vehicles. Immediately after the coaching staff and outside individuals began to approach the scene,  the group jumped into their car fleeing from the parking lot.

Searching the vans, it was confirmed that 13 bags were stolen. Six of the bags contained softball equipment including cleats, gloves, sunglasses, and other athletic gear. The remaining seven were personal travel bags carrying wallets, car keys, laptops, hydro flasks, along with items of sentimental value. While the coaching staff called 911 several times, there was no answer nor action taken from the Oakland police department. Being left stranded, the coaching staff had to drive broken-in vans back to the airport’s rental facility to retrieve new vehicles.

The team is deeply saddened by what was lost, however thankful that everyone is safe. The CSUDH softball program is extremely appreciative of the support provided by our toro family and softball community. Funds will be Donated to The softball program.
