Tornado Relief for the Dailey Fam

Last week my big brother and his wife found themselves in a real life nightmare: Their home hit by a tornado. The sweet little homestead they’ve been building for the last 10+ years, wrecked by 100 mph winds. Lots of my friends recognize these faces.... some even nicknaming them “the blondies” Plenty that have never even met them have heard stories of this incredible family and their unique house. They live in an old elementary school turned farm/funhouse . They steward the land with gorgeous gardens, fruit trees, and flowers, growing and raising a lot of their own food. Ducks, chicken, turkey, sheep, goats, pig, steer, dogs, and probably plenty that I’m missing. Preserving their veggie harvest in sauces, salsa, pickles, you make it. They are raising six children, all so unique and abundant in their academic, athletic, and creative gifts.


Just quick picture this: It’s the last week of summer vacation... Gathering school supplies, pulling down boxes of kid clothes to sort, prepping your kiddos for 7th, 5th, 3rd, 1st, and 4K. Football season is already in swing for the older boys, so you pack up the family of 8 in the car and plan to grab dinner after practice. Head home after, only to find roads blocked, trees down, and power out. An elaborate zig zag on the rural Wisconsin roads finally gets you home to find your roof peeled back!! Your home is a real life rainforest.... all those back to school clothes drenched, animal shelters smashed, the veggie garden that feeds your family, destroyed. Hearing my 8 year old niece recount the scene over the phone was truly heartbreaking. Worried about her now homeless chickens and truly crushed by the loss of the family’s “best garden ever.”


But still, they press on, their strength and positive attitudes incredible. The big kids are back to school this week, baby Solomon at home loving on the new batch of puppies, mom and dad already lining up roof repairs, plus friends and family pitching in where they can. For those of us that can’t be there rebuilding sheep sheds or duck shelters, there is still a way to help! Follow the go fund me link below if you’ve got some extra love to send their way.
