jaw surgery and teeth restoration

I don’t have dental insurance and when I had Delta Dental, they would not cover the accident or the medicine side effects on my teeth.  I wear mouth-guards to stop any further cracks or damage from the Parkinson-like tremors from medicine Raglan side effects. On May 30th, 2018, at 9:30 pm, I was out for the daily ritual of walking my deaf service dog, Margarita, with my friend, Kate, and her French bulldog, Moose. We had only walked a few steps but I was walking slowly, and Kate was already a few doorways ahead. Suddenly, I was down on the ground inside of a tree pit, with warm liquid running across my face. I had lost my balance and fallen on the iron railing around the tree. The iron rail had fractured in my skull in several places. I was able to pull myself up, and I still had Margarita’s leash on my left wrist. I moved to the nearest steps. I was dizzy. I was bleeding a lot. Kate took Margarita home and got my husband, Melvyn. When he arrived, I had already spoken to a NYPD Officer, who was waiting next to an ambulance in the street. (Another neighbor had called 911 because of low blood pressure.) The NYPD Officer had walked over to say the ambulance had been reassigned to me now. I walked with assistance to the ambulance. I was taken to the New York University ER.

At the ER, they stopped my bleeding. X-rays showed the fall broke my nose in 6 places. My left cheek was fractured in four places. My chin was fractured in two places. The fall scraped eight teeth. The ER doctors reset my nose. They closed a laceration above my right eyebrow with seven stitches and a fracture there and a laceration inside my nose with four stitches and a fracture there too. I will have to have soft tissue surgery, in my nose, as soon as my skull heals.

My health insurances covered my facial and other injuries, but not the damage to my teeth. Why I ask, it’s part of my accident? No response from Medicare or United Healthcare to date (Sept. 28, 2018)

I went to my regular dentist and found she wanted to fix two teeth, for $1,000 each, with me paying a copay of $500 per tooth. I cannot afford to pay this. I did previously pay for dental insurance: I had paid over $2,000 between June 2017 and June 2018 for $2,600 of total coverage. Delta Dental sent me a check for $91 back when I cancelled an that was all.

After the accident, I went to the Columbia University Dental School. There they x-rayed my teeth and said they could fix the eight teeth damaged, but it would throw off my bite more. They showed me models and how it would not help to fix only eight teeth. They said that I have damage to my teeth that predates the accident from Parkinson-like movements of Tardive Dyskinesia, caused by Raglan, an anti-nausea medication I take for the symptoms of Crohn’s Disease. For two years, I have no control of my Jaw movements now.

Right now, my medical costs are high, as I get chemo infusions monthly for my GI Track and Crohn’s Disease. I need your help, please! I need $24,000 to get my teeth fixed! I will do the restoration in two steps, upper, then lower over 4 weeks. Please help me in my effort to get better. Thank you.
