My Big Bro's Kidney
My brother Rich is a match and he's donating his kidney to me! November 8th is the day I've been waiting for over 3 years. We are traveling to Kansas City, MO on November 5th for surgery on the 8th. Please see my back story below to find out why I need a kidney and how the donations will be used.
The Back Story
Many years ago at 18 I was diagnosed with Diabetes from Pancreatitis. I started to really be sick about 6 years ago, I'm now 41. My diabetes has taken a large toll on my body. It's affected my eyesight, I have severe nerve damage in both legs and feet, I even walk with a cane from a small stroke. 3 years ago in July I started Dialysis, my kidneys had failed from the Diabetes. I'm a husband, father and son and have worked super hard to lose 160 lbs. and meet all required criteria for a transplant. Thanks to my amazing big brother my dream has come true!
The ACTION Plan
We must travel to KC, MO for the surgery and follow up appointments. I will check in a few days before surgery date with my wife and son. After surgery, if everything goes well, I should be out of the hospital in about a week. I will then stay on campus for 2 weeks, with my wife. Thankfully we were able to reserve a small apartment on the medical campus but it's still $50 a night. That is where expenses start adding up. Which brings us to the next issue....
The Break Down (where your donations will go)
Lodging (up to 15 nights)- $1,000
Food - $300
Gas for traveing back/forth to KC- $200
Other possible expenses needed- $300
Fees due for Go Fund Me-
$200
TOTAL (REVISED LIST) $2,000
This is the bare minimum needed. Unfortunately, more expenses will occur but we are grateful for all donations! Please keep me and my super hero big brother, Rich, in your thoughts/prayers and we will update this page often.
