Tony's Cancer Support Fund

Donation protected
My name is Sheila Deshields McCormick from Mobile, Alabama.   April 27, 2018 is the date that changed the life of my brother, Tony Ray Deshields:   He was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer that has progressed throughout his body, including his organs.  Many of you already know how devastating this can be.

But this is not all....

In 1990, when most of the rest of us were in the prime of our lives, Tony -- at the age of 31 -- accidentally shot himself in the head while hunting.  Though he survived, he did so without part of his brain and has incurred many other difficulties in everyday ordinary life such as not being able to drive or work.   As a result, he moved in with his mother, with whom he has lived since the accident; and in spite of his disability, has done his best to provide for her.

Tony, or "Tony Brown" as he was so affectionately called by his peers and customers, is known for his many years as a mechanic and air conditioning technician in Collins MS,  where he served all of Collins and much of the surrounding areas.  For the last 28 years, he has maintained old friendships and made new through the humble sacrifices he made for others.   Many would say he is the kind of man that would "give you the shirt off his back".   He was.... and refused ANY recognition for it.

With the diagnosis of stage 4 cancer, he is now facing the end of his life sooner than expected, and much sooner that he anticipated when it comes to the ongoing care of his mother.

Tony is not able to pay all of his medical bills.  He is on a fixed income and his medical insurance requires him to pay $6,700.00 out-of-pocket before they will begin paying 80%.   And as most of you know, the doctor(s) expect/require the copay before you even get to see them.  He has not yet met the required deductible, it is only the 4th of May, and all of his monthly income (received on the May 1st) is already gone.  Every donation will go directly to support Tony's medical treatment expenses.

Tony would like only for his bills to be paid and that his mother receive the care she needs.   Family members continue to do all they can but as you know, cancer is a financially draining condition of which too many of us are already aware.
