Tom McNulty #HulkSmashPunyCancer

One week ago, Tom went into the hospital for a procedure to find a nagging pain that kept putting him into the hospital emergency room; one that gave the symptoms of a heart attack, but was never a heart attack. He had been previously told by a doctor that it was a hiatal hernia. The scope procedure revealed that he had a cancerous mass at the base of his esophagus where it meets his stomach and no hernia. Two days later we were told that he had cancer and four days later we were told that it was Stage 3, with the possibility of Stage 4 (inoperable).

A CT scan revealed "suspicious" lymph nodes near his liver and pancreas. If the ones near his pancreas are cancerous, it automatically classifies him as Stage 4. The second scope procedure was unsuccessful in determining the stage, so WE are calling it Stage 3+ and planning for aggressive chemo and radiation to shrink the esophogeal tumor before surgery!!  Tom's sense of crazy humor, positivity and stubborness will not let cancer take over!

Tom is self-employed, so every day he is away from his desk is a non-paid day...no benefits.  Being a teacher, my insurance benefits are ridiculously expensive, while not providing the best coverage for what we have been and are about to face. Week one totaled $1600 in co-pays alone!

First and foremost, we need your prayers--and those are free. Please pray for Tom's health and quick recovery.  Secondly, many of our dear family members and close friends have asked how to help.  Believe me, this is difficult for us to ask, but if you are able and can help with the medical bills, we would so greatly appreciate it.  Donations in any amount will alleviate some of the financial stresses in our life, and for that we can not put our gratitude into words. Thirdly, the final way to help us is to share our request for help.

Truly, Tom's best defense mechanism against cancer is his amazing sense of humor. We keep our spirits up by telling silly and inappropriate jokes. He wouldn't have it any other way. Please help me keep that smile on his face.  It's my wish and prayer for him.  I also pray that we get to grow old(er) together. Having only been married less than 2 years, leaves so much more living to do!!

We are truly humbled and blessed with every bit of help you can offer. In turn we pray for abundant blessings in your own life. Love and hugs to all.
