Tomas' Cancer Battle

Tomas Salazar, who is our beloved son, grandson, cousin, nephew, and friend is just 11 years old and is fighting a tough battle with cancer.
In March of 2017 he was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of bone cancer called Ewing’s Sarcoma. This cancer is most commonly found in children and affects fewer than 1,000 people a year.
Tomas has already undergone countless rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, scans, and surgeries. He is a strong son of strong parents and has faced this horrible disease with bravery and strength.
Unfortunately, despite all efforts, we recently discovered that the tumor has spread to other parts of his body including his pelvis and his spinal column. There is not enough knowledge and equipment in Colombia (our home country) to continue treating this rare and aggressive type of childhood cancer. All of the treatment that he has been receiving hasn't been working and so the cancer is spreading.
Tomas urgently needs to be treated in the US. This truly is his only chance of survival. The problem is that he has no health insurance to cover all of the medical expenses.
We need your help covering the cost of his medical procedures. Anything you can provide, from prayers to donations, will give us the hope and strength to overcome these terrible times.
Help us defeat this cancer. Help Tomy live the life he, as an 11 year old kid, deserves. Give him the opportunity that all of us had to enjoy life to its fullest, and grant us the opportunity to enjoy of our dear Tomy.

Tomás Salazar, que es nuestro querido hijo, nieto, primo, sobrino y amigo, tiene solo 11 años y está peleando contra el cáncer.
En marzo de 2017 fue diagnosticado con un tipo extremadamente raro de cáncer de hueso llamado Sarcoma de Ewing. Este tipo de cáncer es mas común en niños y afecta a menos de 1,000 personas al año.
Tomas ya se ha pasado por innumerables rondas de quimioterapia, radiación y cirugías. Él es un hijo fuerte de padres fuertes y ha enfrentado esta horrible enfermedad con valentía y fortaleza.
Desafortunadamente, a pesar de todos los esfuerzos, recientemente descubrimos que el tumor se ha diseminado a otras partes de su cuerpo, incluida la pelvis y la columna vertebral. No hay suficiente conocimiento y equipo en Colombia (nuestro país) para seguir tratando este tipo de cáncer tan agresivo. Todo el tratamiento que ha estado recibiendo no ha funcionado y entonces el cáncer se está expandiendo.
Tomás necesita urgentemente ser tratado en los Estados Unidos. Esta es realmente su única oportunidad para vivir. El problema es que no tiene seguro médico para cubrir todos los gastos.
Necesitamos su ayuda para cubrir el costo de sus procedimientos médicos. Cualquier cosa, desde oraciones hasta donaciones, nos dará la esperanza y la fortaleza para seguir adelante.
