With much compassion and regret we would like to let you know that Coach Livia's husband, Toma Ponoran, passed away January 30, 2018 at his home in McKinney, TX, after a lengthy illness suffered due to a massive stroke several years ago. Please help Coach Livia's family with funeral/medical expenses.
PONORAN, TOMA ALEXANDRU (1955 - 2018), born in Lugoj, Romania. Toma finished his university degree in physical education from Oradea Pedagogical Institute. Toma coached at Sports Club Onesti , and in Deva at the Senior National Olympic training center. His remarkable gymnastics contributions included 1st place team in Dortmund, Germany, 3rd place team in Sweden in 1996, and 3rd place team at the Olympic Games in 1996 in Atlanta, Georgia, US. Some of the athletes he coached are Ana Maria Bican, Ionela Loaies and many more. In 1995, Toma was named “Antrenor Emerit”. In 2000 Toma received the National Medal Class III for his contribution to Romanian gymnastics.
