Tom Belsky Recovery Fund

Donation protected

Hi My Name is Nick Bryan and I am helping raise funds for a great friend- Tom Belsky.

As many of you know by now Tom is an avid racer( Sprint Car Driver) and was injured doing what he loved to do and that's just "RACE".

On May 15th, 2021 Tom was in a Last Chance Qualifier at Eagle Raceway ( Eagle, NE), on a restart he made contact with another car which resulted in sending him full speed into the Turn 1 Exit Tire/ Barrier, After brutal contact with the tire, Tom was knocked unconscious from the impact. The damage to his car took Safety and Tow Crew's several minutes to be able to extract him from his car carefully and access his injuries- He then was Life Flighted Via Helicopter (Star Care) and flown to Bryan LGH Medical Trauma Center (Lincoln, NE), where he was intubated, heavily sedated, and placed immediately in ICU due to his injuries after Several CT Scans and a MRI, Doctors confirmed he has suffered many injuries including and not limited to the following: Broken Ribs, Punctured Lung, and Dislocated Neck Vertebrae (Tore All Tendons & Muscles and dislocated the Vertebrae in his neck) After evaluation Doctors had to overnight a plate to use to Fuse His Neck bones back together, upon arrival of the plate, he was taken to Emergency Surgery. After several hours, the surgery has been a SUCCESS! Although Tom's Neck Surgery was a success, the bones will need a lot of time to heal on their own and he will have limited mobility in his neck going forward after healing takes place.

UPDATE from Surgery 11:00 PM 5/16/21

Tom is stable, conscious, responded well and has opened his eyes upon request, he does have great blood flow and movement in his arms, however his legs & feet are not functioning because of the pain and swelling in his damaged neck. Although Doctors are optimistic about his recovery and once his neck heals they expect he’ll regain the sensation in his legs & feet to walk again. Time and recovery will determine his progress going forward. Doctors have removed his “halo” and plan to sit him up-right Monday 5/17/21 to slowly start the process of healing.

Treatment Going Forward consist of:

3-6 Months Hospitalized for Evaluation & Treatment

12-24 Months of Daily Rehab and Recovery.

This is just the beginning of a long road ahead, Tom will face challenges that everyday life evolves and may or may not be able to work, and or Race again depending the recovery process. We Pray that God take's Tom into his hands and heals him back to the Great Man he is to all of us. Husband, Father, Racer & most importantly a Great Friend to many and all who know him, He's the give your shirt off his back kind of fella , He would help anyone in need at a given notice, now it's our turn to return the much needed favor.

So please HELP! Help Tom and his wife Leanda with Funds to help cover Medical and other future expenses they may endure involving Tom's Injurie's. Let them focus on the Recovery Process and Healing that Tom rightfully deserves.
