Telephone hotline to prevent weapons violence

www.WaitOne.org Wait One is a new toll-free telephone hotline to assist people that are contemplating violence with firearms. The money raised will offset costs until the non-profit can receive other donations and grants. Any amount left will be incorporated into the operating budget of the newly formed non-profit, WaitOne. I (Scott Hite) came up with the idea in 2015 of a hotline for those contemplating violence with firearms after repeatedly asking why it didn't already exist. After giving up on the idea, I recently ran across a YouTube video completely by accident without understanding what it was. In the video, the shooter at the movie theater in Colorado explains that he called a mental health hotline prior to entering the movie theater. https://youtu.be/18tVzY8uJ74 https://youtu.be/TjKae2rNjmg )  When I heard the shooter describe the call as "one last chance to see if I should turn back or not", the toll-free hotline became an immediate necessity. If it's possible for "one last chance" for a mass shooter, then there is a last chance for an urban gang member, for a gunman in a dispute, for someone in a domestic disturbance and many other situations. The hotline is ONE LAST CHANCE & ONE LAST HOPE  to Wait One Second, Wait One Minute, Wait & Call. The future for WaitOne is to coordinate with local professionals to assist those that reach out by telephone when necessary. If possible, WaitOne will follow-up to assist however possible. It isn't just someone to talk to before pulling a trigger. Support from specialists across the country will be an integral part of the process. I'm in this for the long-run as a way to prevent firearms violence and assist those that are tempted to be involved in that firearms violence. Donations will be used for exactly that purpose as effectively as possible.  I'm going on a bicycle trip across country to raise awareness and to seek donations (only where there is cell reception).
