As many of you know, Tom braved a major bone marrow/stem cell transplant on July 29th to help treat a cancer diagnosis that we learned of late last winter.
Tom was diagnosed with Chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML) is a type of cancer that starts in blood-forming cells of the bone marrow and invades the blood. in Tom's case it became aggressive (MDS). Fortunately, he was blessed to have found a bone marrow donor rather quickly.
Since the transplant, Tom has shown signs he's ready for the fight and the long road ahead, but it will get harder before it gets better.
Tom has tried to maintain his positive, cheerful and jokster attitude throughout the process - making friends with the nursing staff and connecting/reconnecting with all who have made a mark in his life. Even Tom's doctors have made mention of his strength and determination through this process which included many intense chemo treatments.
In the photo above, you'll see a recent selfie of Tom and his caretaker, one of the strongest and most loyal women in the world, his wife Bonnie. The treatment, transplant and the recovery process is a long, uncertain road for both Tom and Bonnie and our family, where we'll face weeks and months of not knowing how this will all turn out. Unfortunately, this process is not only emotionally wearing, but financially as well. We are asking for any donation that you can make to help support their medical bills, and most importantly for your prayers.
Our goal is to raise $5,000 to help fund Tom's treatment, transplant and recovery. $5, $10, $50 - no donation is too small. All funds raised will be deeply appreciated and will go directly to Tom and Bonnie.
