Together With Torrin

Dear friends and loved ones,

We come to you with heavy hearts and devasting news; our Torrin has been diagnosed with invasive Metastatic Melanoma Cancer. We found this out at Christmas time. Torrin, his wife Jodi, and all of his family have been rocked but remain strong and determined to ensure their two young children Aceia (6) and Oaki (3) can continue happily with their lives without the negative impact this horrible disease can bring to families.

Torrin has been a dedicated worker in the construction industry for 20 years and has always been devoted to his work and his family. Those of you who know Torrin, will know that he has always been well respected in the industry.

A couple of months before Christmas Torrin had been suffering acute pain from a lump in his neck. He went to the doctor’s and was told it was a simple infection and was treated with antibiotics. The pain subsided for a couple of weeks and then came back with a vengeance. Despite this, he carried on with his hectic and workaholic life. The pain returned in December and after extensive scans, tests and biopsies we found out the horrifying truth of why he was experiencing so much pain. Doctors found four masses of cancer in his chest and two in his neck. As if this wasn’t bad enough, the final scan determined Torrin also had a cancer mass
in his brain.

Now the year is back in full swing, the realisation of what his diagnosis means has hit home, not only physically and mentally, but financially. Torrin’s family is nothing extraordinary (except to their families!), they have jobs, they have mortgages, they have normal everyday living expenses as everyone else does. He has now started immunotherapy treatment but, the impact of ongoing medical expenses, and the added costs you would expect that come along with such a diagnosis, is putting a huge financial strain on the family.

Unable to work full time as he has always done, their lives have now forever changed. Jodi only works part-time and with Torrin, raising the two kids, she is now spending the rest of her time caring for Torrin and taking him to all his treatments. Our hope is that immunotherapy works as it has the best rate of success, if not it will mean either chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, or all of those together - not a pretty thought.

We have started this GoFundMe page to help Torrin cover his medical expenses and the loss of income. The cost of treatment and care is massive; we would be eternally grateful for any help that you can give. Your donation will go directly to helping Torrin and his family.

Please keep Torrin in your thoughts and prayers and know that every little bit helps.
