<div>When I think about dementia, I think about my family. There are my grandparents, who both had rare forms of the illness, and there is my mother, a psychiatrist specialising in dementia research.

<div>That means I've seen this illness from two sides: as a family member of those living with dementia, and as the daughter of someone whose life's work is dedicated to helping people with dementia and their carers.

<div>Through my grandparents I’ve seen firsthand how it affects not only the person diagnosed, but everyone who loves them. Through my mum’s work, I know how urgent the need is to support carers and focus on prevention.
