On December 29th, a day after his birthday, our brother was found by a brave police officer swerving in traffic and was pulled over. The police first thought he was under the influence but quickly realized something was medically wrong with him. (The article about that can be read here) After being escorted to the hospital in Milton a CT scan was performed and Todd was transferred to Pensacola where tests and MRIs determined he had a grapefruit sized brain tumor that had been causing seizures and more than likely, slowly growing for a long time. He was referred to UAB to see a specialist (Dr. Markert) who then operated and removed a significant portion of the tumor. At this time the pathology report has determined it is a stage two oligodendroglioma (slow growing, low grade glioma) with fingers infiltrating the regular brain matter.

Chemotherapy and radiation are possible in the future but currently they are simply monitoring what is left after the operation until his follow-up MRI scan. His loving wife Trish is already on disability for Lupus and he is unable to work or drive at this time and will be for at least six months. Although they have a lot of love and family emotional support, Mindy and I are raising funds to financially support them through this difficult time as bills and medical expenses will continue to pour in with no significant way to pay them all. Funds will be used for ongoing medical bills and household expenses while he is on medical “leave”. Our brother is an extremely kind, loving, and selfless person who has worked tirelessly as a brick mason and would give his last dollar if it would help another person.
