"It all began one warm August night in 2014..."
is not how I will ever start this book, a first person account of the 'truth is stranger than fiction' antics of social media. I'm not certain how it will start, to be honest. I have a vague idea, but like all things I write, the book's character will strengthen once I put pen to paper. I have an outline. That's always a good thing. I have a self-imposed start date of 4/1/2018. That's a good thing, too. Two chapters, maybe three and then the pitch to the publishers. That's a scary thing.
I do know that it will be funny, at least my version of 'ha'. To treat the experience with anything other than first-person humor would be unthinkable at this point. The people and places will remain anonymous and/or fictitious. To out people in a book is a major no-no. In that vein, names, places and physical attributes will not be mentioned, nor will they be thinly disguised (although I am thinking about contacting New Yorker magazine to get the book cover rights to that infamous "snow day" illustration as my homage to our lead characters, Stan and Kate).
This fundraising effort is for research. Research to enhance and verify the countless rumors and stories that will form the basis for each unfolding chapter. After all, every good author needs a verifiable source.
