Hi My Name is Peter J. Nixon 60 years Old, I live in Brisbane Australia and I am trying to raise fiunds for legal costs indurded on my family during the Passings of My Father.
To All, Back in 2015 on the 27th of April a very sad chapter in my Dear Ole Dads life in old age took place and my life. Our Journey if I could put it.
My dad was a couple of weeks away from his 89 th birthday he was in his fifth year of old age nursing home care. He had complained of pain on a visit by wife and I on the friday of the 24th .After the nursing home made arrangements,
I was to take him to a outside x ray clinic on the monday , My father had no use of his legs at this stage of his life and I said he should go by ambulance to Prince Charles Hospital Brisbane, as he had always gone previously.
I ended up taking him in my car and as in all my statements etc and as my defence team presented in the Supreme of QLD, 2 and 1/2 years later is,
I gave him a drink which with a seditive for car sickness which made him fall sleepy, which then made me able for me to drive him to the hospital. The hospital listed above for those who may know it .
From there after I spoke to staff at admittance on the 27th April 2015 till the 1 st of May 2015 it was all okay,
But on this day after the hospital in the time between then and admission had commenced pallative care legally as per Dad,s ( Advanced Health Directive ) a form The Person validate,s earlier in their time with sound mind for when the circumstances mignt come and that you dont want life saving procedudes at this stage of your life.
Dad and I had had gone though this quite a few months before. When I had been called to the home ecause it was thought Dad was having a heart attack, that must have been misdiagnosed at the time and was just a massive unexplained Blood Preesure Drop off the Charts.
Back to 1/5/2015.The doctor of the Hospital decided to inform the police that Dad was in there. They came to my home and did a audio interview and then took my wife and I to the polic station her for a written statement, and I for Video audio Interview at neither time telling me they were looking at laying charges, They then returned us home, We asking what happens now and being told it will go to the coroner for further consideration.
Within an hour the junior officer of the pair who were both detectives, Returned and said he was now arresting me, and I said on what charge, His reply was Attemped Murder,
I replied You,ve gotta be Joking.
With that he transported me to the watchhouse on the way I asked if I would get bail he replied yes, as son as he had me there he refused bail,
He charged me with attemped murder and I spent the night in jail at 57 years of age. I was able to luckly obtain bail the next morning at considerable cost $ 1,600 in a Saturday Morning Magistrate Court Session.
Since that point being able to find a defence legal team and fight the absolutely aborant charge of Attemped Murder and having it dimmissed in the Pine Rivers Magistrate Court.
But it was handed up to the Sumpreme Court as a
" Attempt " to Assist Suicide the attempt being dropped off the charge by the Department of Public Prosecutions and procceded with as Assist Suicide, now at this level we made numerous attemps under law to have it discontinued, The main one under QLD Law it was not in the Public Interest meaning Tax payer cost for most probable outcome.
Well finally on Wednesdaythe 28th of November 2017 the Trial started and ended on the Tuesday 5 th of December with a unanamoius Decision by a Jury of 12
" Not Guilty Your Honour" And the presiding judge says Mr Nixon quote un quote " You are free to Go " I mean no offence to The Presiding Judge or legal system. Where now is that 2 1/2 years of my and families life and there is very little recourse to ask for compensation to pay the Bill.
My family and I after all this pressure is now facing a Legal Bill of somewhere between 90,000 and 100,000 dollars to my legal team.
But I would like to make Special mention for two absolute Gems of their Proffession.
The Honarable Mr Dean Wells and Mr Mark Thomas both Barristers at Law in QLD who defered their Fee,s. In the support of the Law changes going on in this country in regards to Euthanasia. Which if money raised after paying my Legals to a also good man Of O,sullivans Law Firm, Mr Eugene O,sullivan my solicitor in all of this who worked tiredlessly with Mr Luke Ricmond who just this week graduated at law and Mr Ken Ferguson and All the Office Staff in helping me to prove my innocence.
Will be used to continue to persue law change in this regard
To all the people that read this and may have a relative or one day you /me facing this prospect in your Life who wish to have euthanasia as a option when dignity and quality of life has abanonned them,
Could 100,000 people please find a dollar to donate.
I read the other day, just in this country alone 87 % was quoted as in favour of Dying with Dignity Pain Free.
