For our late mother and our children’s late grandmother Glory Agne (Lampa) Ventura. She had been battling Breast Cancer for these past two years along side her battle over her mental health for most of her life. Since birth she had already faced many adversities and it would continue through out her entire life.

Our mom was battling her mental health even before my brother and I was born. Eventually getting diagnosed with Schizoaffective Disorder. Then later down the years would end up in a Care Home.

On August 23, 2023 she had been diagnosed with Stage 2 Triple Negative Breast Cancer while in her care home.

On October 30, 2023 my mom is going through the preparation for Chemo inserting a port to receive treatment. During this time there was a lack of communication from her caregiver and social worker to our family on the degree of her diagnoses. Even with her social worker stating that it's nothing for us to worry about. When we later learned how aggressive this type of breast cancer.

She would experience some neglect from her caregiver who had made all excuses not to go to her Chemo treatments. So I, her daughter Hope, stepped in traveling from Makaha to Queens West and back to her Care Home in Pearl City for a few visits.

After a few cycles on April 26, 2024, she ended up in the ER because she fell and was weak with a neutropenic fever from her chemo treatments while she was showering unattended. Then eventually getting kicked out of her care home while she was still recovering at Queens West. Her chemo treatments had come to a halt until she fully recovered and when discharged from the hospital as chemo is an outpatient treatment. She would be here up until May 15, 2025 and placed at Queens Hale Pulama at Kuakini to patiently await placement for a couple months.

During this time at Hale Pulama and also entire time in the hospital we always had a hard time reaching her social worker who had stated she's been looking for placement. Also made some promises to my mom about visting her but had not on a few occasions. So then the social worker at Queens had stepped into to help us we were in desperation to get her discharged from the hospital to get mom back on her chemo treatments.

My husband and I were even talking about bringing her home at one point and then her social worker did not recommend it and threw in all this accusations that was rectified years ago. Then on June 18, 2024 I almost lost my husband as he had a major heart attack and after being discharged in just a few days he would end up back in the hospital for little over a couple weeks so bringing her home had to be put on hold and we had to go back into finding her placement.

I started searching for places on my end as well and the social worker at Queens was calling and following up for me as I was caring for my husbands and 4 boys. Came across respite services which would allow me to go to the facility and bring mom out to her appointments. As this has never been done, the social worker at Queens made a Hail Mary Pass and we were able to get her into Leahi Medical & Behavioral Respite by KCC on July 11, 2024. Allowing us to celebrate her birthday outside a facility on July 13, 2024.

On August 15, 2024 her oncologist stated she would only have 6-12 months and to enjoy what she had left. But she pleaded for her life to him that she wanted to live. Wanting to be with my brother, myself, and her 5 grandsons. So her oncologist agreed and to try her chemo at a lower dose this time around.

As Leahi was a temporary place, finding a permanent place was difficult and her social worker still not wanting mom to come home even when she had been begging to come home with us. Then the amazing team at Leahi was able to get rid of that old social worker and we ended up bringing mom home on October 29, 2024.

We restarted preparations for chemo treatments and her next cycle was on January 28, 2025.

However, this time around she did not do well this time around and ended up being hospitalized at Kekela in Queen’s for little over a week. So chemo again came to a halt as now we were battling her mental health so that she would be able to resume her chemo.

It was a tough battle and I eventually stopped working in May and had been caring for her until her mania had escalated more on September 14. Back to the hospital and later transitioning into hospice care and going to Hale Nani on October 8 which she would finally rest on 10/12 at 10:12AM.

Any donation will help us give mom a proper send off as she was the purest of pure even with all the many challenges she pushed through her entire life. She still persevered and never gave up until the very end. Still love and forgave even if…
