In Memory of Candido Navarrete

My name is Jessica Salas. I am 22 years old. i have lived in Texas my entire life. COVID-19 as far we know has affected so many families and communities... unfortunately, my family was hit the hardest with the virus. In the year 2006, the Dallas Mavericks made it into the NBA Finals with the Miami Heats... As we know, those two have always been the teams where we would get excited and pumped up here in Dallas to face off. My uncle, Candido Navarrete, was the most excited out of our family. He is the biggest Dallas Mavericks fan. But unfortunately since he was working all the time, he could never really go watch a game in person. He was a hardworking man who dedicated all his time to provide for his 3 children and loving wife. Making sure they were fed, taken care of... loved. My uncle is... was working for a company who in 2006 made the Dallas Mavericks Jerseys. He was on TV. Showcasing how it’s done and how the uniforms are made. I cannot tell you, being the little 8 year old me, smiling from ear to ear seeing my uncle on a TV! I was so proud of him and he was so happy and maybe a bit of a show off... I would give anything to relive that day. 2020, COVID-19 hits. Causing a lot of panic and fear... causing a lot of pain. We were fortunate to not catch the virus until my uncle tested positive in December of 2020. He was admitted to the hospital days before New Years. He wanted to come home and experience the New Year with his family. Even though there wouldn’t be anything huge to do due to COVID-19 guidelines... He did not come home on New Year’s day. He spent it in a hospital room... Sadly, he did not make it as his oxygen and blood pressure levels were too low to overcome. He passed away on January 14th around 2:00AM. Now, I have never experienced a loss of a family member that was close to all of us. It causes a pain that you never knew you could feel ... There are no words to describe this feeling. I started a GoFund me page in Honor of my Uncle. Who left behind his wife and 3 beautiful children. One of his children was going to get married earlier this year... He was going to walk her down the isle... But COVID took more than just my uncle. It took away a brother, a father, a friend. It took away our love. I started this fundraiser in hope that maybe, just maybe... His story can be shared. And also to try and help alleviate any expenses his family has to endure. His name is Candido Navarrete Herrera, he was only 47 years old ***********************************************Mi nombre es Jessica Salas. Tengo 22 años. He vivido en Texas toda mi vida. COVID-19, hasta donde sabemos, ha afectado a tantas familias y comunidades ... desafortunadamente, mi familia fue una de las familias afectada por el virus. En el año 2006, los Dallas Mavericks llegaron a las Finales de la NBA con los Miami Heats ... Los fanáticos de los Mavs sabían que esos dos siempre han sido los equipos en los que nos emocionaríamos y animaríamos aquí en Dallas para enfrentarnos. Mi tío, Cándido Navarrete, era el más emocionado de nuestra familia. Era el mayor fanático de los Dallas Mavericks. Pero, desafortunadamente, como estaba trabajando todo el tiempo, nunca pudo ir a ver un partido en persona. Era un hombre trabajador que dedicó todo su tiempo a mantener a sus 3 hijos y su amada esposa. Asegurándose de que fueran alimentados, cuidados ... amados. Mi tío trabajaba para una empresa que en 2006 fabricó las camisetas de los Dallas Mavericks. Estaba en la televisión. Mostrando cómo se ven y cómo se hacen los uniformes. No puedo explicar cómo sentía , yo la pequeña de 8 años, sonriendo de oreja a oreja al ver a mi tío en la tele! Estaba tan orgulloso de él y él estaba tan feliz y tal vez un poco presumido haha... Daría cualquier cosa por revivir ese día. 2020, COVID-19 golpea. Causando mucho pánico y miedo ... provocando mucho dolor. Tuvimos la suerte de no contraer el virus hasta que mi tío dio positivo en diciembre de 2020. Fue ingresado en el hospital días antes de Año Nuevo. Quería volver a casa y vivir el Año Nuevo con su familia. No regresó a casa el día de Año Nuevo. Lo pasó en una habitación de hospital ... Lamentablemente, no lo logró. Sus niveles de oxígeno y presión arterial eran demasiado bajos para superarlos. Falleció el 14 de Enero alrededor de las 2:00 a.m. Ahora, nunca he sentido la pérdida de un familiar que estuviera cerca de todos nosotros. Provoca un dolor que nunca pensaste que podías sentir ... No hay palabras para describir este sentimiento. Abrí una página de GoFund en honor a mi tío. Quien dejó a su esposa y 3 hermosos hijos. Uno de sus hijos se iba a casar a principios de este año ... Iba a acompañarla por la isla ... Pero COVID se llevó algo más que mi tío. Se llevó a un hermano, a un padre, a un amigo. Se llevó nuestro amor. Comencé esta recaudación de fondos con la esperanza de que tal vez, solo tal vez ... Su historia pueda ser compartida. Y también para tratar de ayudar a aliviar cualquier gasto que tenga que soportar su familia. Su nombre es Candido Navarrete Herrera y solo tenía 47 años.
