Update: First and foremost thanks to all for your kindness and genrousity. I spoke with the parent and they are grateful and humbled by the community. While we exceeded our original goal so quickly we have reset the target to $1500. This would allow the parent and daycare to not have to absord any costs if possible. Any extra funds over the new goal will be put towards necessities (clothes) or even toys/ games (again they don’t have much) for the kids. Thank you all for your consideration!
Hello - My name is Adeline and I am a grade 4 teacher at a school in Ottawa, Canada. I am looking to raise funds on behalf of two students in order for them to continue their subsidized city day care program. Their daycare providor has looked after them for over 10 years and has become like a mother, always going an extra mile to ensure that they are looked after and safe.
They live with one parent (single income) who had run into financial challenges and will not be able to particpate in the subsidized day care program until a $1500 outstanding balance with the city is paid in full ASAP. The current day care providor has offered to pay $250 of the balance and the parent is looking to do the same. The children don't have much in terms of "materials" (toys, clothes) or the ability to participate in extra "activities" but they are good kids who don't make a fuss about these things. They are fortunate to be in a good school however losing their current daycare will potentially move them to another school and provide more challenges that we are looking to avoid if possible.
As mentioned before they do not have much material or activity wise compared to their peers but these 2 students remain very kind, playful and have a positive attitude with life. Your support allowing them to remain with their daycare would mean a lot to me but more importantly the kids and their daycare providor.
