Operation Crossroads Africa Trip

For as long as I can remember, I have always enjoyed helping others. As a child, I would volunteer to help my younger sister with her homework; or my mother with cooking our family dinners; or even something as small as holding the door open for the person behind me. As I have gotten older, my desire to help others has grown even stronger, especially after my family and I went through one of the hardest times in our lives.
It was my first year in high school and my brother was preparing to leave for the Army. My mother had just lost her job and the bills kept flowing in left and right. Before we knew it, we were in the process of losing our home. My mom continued working contract jobs and searching for a permanent position, but the speed at which our finances mounted was unmatched with company offers. Within a few months, our time ran out, and we were homeless. The amount of help we received from my extended family, friends, and church members is every meaning of the word blessing because within two weeks we moved into a comfortable townhome with money for the first and last month's rent. Within those two weeks, family and friends opened their homes and hearts to my family ensuring that we never felt like a burden. They made sure that we always felt comfortable and enjoyed our stay for however long it might be. The amount of gratitude that I have for all of those involved during our "dark" hour is indescribable.
God positioned those people to be a blessing in our lives, and I have now been granted a chance to be a blessing to someone else and so many others. Operation Crossroads Africa is a program whose focus is to assist African countries with local development projects while facilitating a cross-cultural exchange between Crossroaders and the local people. This exchange creates a relationship for Crossroaders and the local people that is unshakeable. As a Political Science major and aspiring diplomat, this is the perfect opportunity, one that happens once in lifetime. The only obstacle that prevents me from participating is the program fee of $3,800, not including the travel fee to the orientation in New York. I am asking for a total of $4,300 to help secure my spot in the program and with my travel to the orientation. The deadline for the total payment is April 25th. God has opened this door for me to help open the doors for those less fortunate than I am, and all I need is your help to position me there. Please help me get to Africa and reach my dreams.
