Get Ceyenne Funded to Do The Work!

Do you know Ceyenne Doroshow?

When you do, you know she is one of the most generous people you’ll ever meet - one who strives to improve the life of every person who comes into it, and there are many.  She is the mother, sister and friend to hundreds - always working to create a different kind of world for queer and trans people  - one where we take care of each other, across borders and through prison walls.

For years Ceyenne has been building a structure of solidarity and safety through hosting community meals, being an outspoken advocate for sex workers and transgender people, and sharing her story of perseverance across the world.  Two years ago, she decided to expand that work and build GLITS - Gays and Lesbians Living in a Transgender Society - under this name she has acted as an advocate for transgender people fleeing violence internationally, raised bail funds to get people out of jail, and housed, fed and provided 24/7 life building support for recent asylum seekers and queer and trans people leaving the prison system.  This year she has been the main advocate and point person for 9 people seeking asylum in US, 4 people exiting domestic violence situations needing relocation and coordinated a bail out program to get 6 queer and trans people released from jail.

From her own house, with an informal network of supporters she has been effectively creating a network of safety and belonging for many.  In an increasingly hostile world the work is only growing, and it is time for her to expand past the walls of her own home to create something much bigger that can hold the needs of queer and transgender people who desperately need an advocate to help them thrive.

We are asking for your help to actualize this dream.  Funding GLITS will mean becoming part of her vision to build a reliable and sustainable organization which provides housing, immigration navigation, and job training to QTPOC for whom there is no other door.  This needs to happen and it needs to happen now.

Our 5,000 dollar starter goal is what is needed to move GLITS into an office, fund Ceyenne to focus on the work full time, and assemble a team that will build the structure of this organization to reach where it needs to go.  We need this work to be done by us, for us - and without financial access it is incredibly difficult to sustain this.  This can be a lifeline that interrupts the cycle of criminalization, deportation and violence faced by our community.

As thanks for your support we are holding a GLITS Ball, on December 17th - Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers at Brooklyn Bazaar in NYC.  A $30 dollar or more donation welcomes you into a celebration with DJ Frankie Paradise and performances by Brenda Continental Milan, Jasmine Van Wales and Daisy Lopez - just show up with your reciept!  $500 or more donations will be commemorated by your choice of 30x20 portraits of Rhianna or Pharrell Williams by New York artist Mathyou Namie.
