Pittsburgh TLGBQ Emergency Rapid Response Fund

Tax deductible
In response to the recent #ALLBLACKLIVESMATTER #BLACKTRANSLIVESMATTER movement and lack of emergency resources specific to people identifying as LGBTQIA+, Trans YOUniting  in partnership with True T PGH  are proud to announce the debut of an all-new TLGBQ+ Emergency Rapid Response Funding initiative to aid in countering emerging threats at local and national levels against the hard-fought legal, economic, and cultural advances our communities have made.

These threats undermine our humanity and our worth, and our responsiveness to them is critical.

Over the past four years, the cultural and political landscape has continually shifted, and the threats and needs of LGBTQIA+ community members have evolved alongside. We are committed to making sure this Fund serves as a resource landscape.

THE CURRENT SITCH
Through individual efforts we have been fortunate to raise $5,000.00 to-date with a campaign goal to match funds up to $100,000.00, seeing over $8,000.00 granted to the community monthly. Of this, $50,000 will fund work led by and centering LGBTQIA+ People of Color most directly impacted by the social injustices, and the remaining $50,000 will more specifically fund emergency needs within the Trans community including but not limited to (rent & utility assistance, transportation, food, etc),  social activism and community organizing led by and centering Black & Brown People of Trans Experience.

WHAT THIS FUND WILL SUPPORT
This Rapid Response Fund ensures that groups responding to emerging developments in their communities have the critical resources that are needed to come together and protect one another in the face of new and renewed threats. Through it, we support projects, individuals, and organizations focused on timely issues that require a quick but significant response.

These quick and timely grants support things like:

- Community organizing efforts in response to incidents of hate and violence, significant policy changes, and other timely events that significantly impact LGBTQIA+ People of Color.
- Legal support and related services for immigrants and refugees in response to local and federal changes
- Emergency Rent and/or Utilities Bill Assistance. (1 Per 3 Months)
- Emergency Transportation Assistance (Lyft, Uber, Port Authority)
- Organizing, support, and services for activities related to changes in rights and access for trans and gender diverse people at local, state, and federal levels
- Mental health and related services for LGBTQ+ people in crisis
