EJ Solar Spark: Let's Get Current!

**Thank you so much all of the support! We have met our goal of $15,000 and any money raised over this amount will be used towards renewable energy curriculum in our school.  We will continue this campaign until Wednesday at midnight.

Who We Are:

The Shoe Club is a group of students at East Jordan Middle/High school. The club created EJ Solar Spark, whose purpose is to help lessen our dependence on the grid and positively impact our school and community.

This is the largest student led project in our school's history! We are passionate about inspiring and educating our community about clean energy.  As students in a rural community, we DO believe this project will have a lasting impact and that we are taking steps to change our world in a small but meaningful way.

Our Project:
Our proposed 30 kiloWatt solar array will connect EJMHS students with solar power, providing significant benefits to their education and their futures. This project will also reduce energy costs for our school. Solar power is now the cheapest source of new energy, is cost-effective in northern Michigan, and will play an important role in students’ futures, from climate change mitigation to professional opportunities.

We are excited to learn about renewable energy and educate our community through this project. We are seeking funding and plan to pursue multiple outlets to fund the solar array.

Educational Impact:
We also look forward to educating students in our district about solar power. We plan to use curriculum and coursework, provided by Groundwork (a respected clean energy nonprofit) to engage students on this topic. East Jordan Solar Spark members will assist in the further education of their peers at the elementary school to extend the inclusion of this project to younger students.

An exciting component of the long-term interaction between the students and the project will be the installment of a live-feed monitor of the solar array's performance, which will be on display in the Middle/High school. The information from the live-feed will be accessible to every classroom in our district.

Not only will we be educating students K-12 on the benefits and impact of solar energy, but we are planning to host a community night to raise awareness and spark interest in solar power.

We Need Your Help:
Your help is greatly appreciated! We look forward to the installation of this solar array on Earth Day 2021. This project is made possible through grants and donations.  We can't do this without your help. Consider a donation today!
