Joyce and Del are among the many who've lost EVERYTHING to Hurricane Harvey. They were mandatory evacuated from their home in Bevil Oaks where the water from Pine Island Bayou was rapidly rising. They fled to their daughter's home in another area of Beaumont but it wasn't long until that home also began taking in water forcing them to remain on the upper level. Bevil Oaks is completely submerged under flood water with only the rooftops visible. Their home and its contents are a total loss. At this point there is no word on when the flood water might recede or when they could be allowed near their home again, but it WILL NOT BE HABITABLE for a long time, if ever. They received word from their flood insurance carrier they will only be paid $5000.00 as "that amount is about what everyone will get." Their immediate need is MEDICATION for both themselves and their two dogs. Unfortunately they don't even have the basic essentials such as CLOTHING, UNDERWEAR, toothpaste, deodorant, toothbrushes, bedding, towels, etc. They gratefully have taken shelter in their tiny travel trailer which is the only place they have to live, but to make matters worse, just this morning learned the AC/Heating unit is bad and a new one will cost $10,000! Joyce has given so much of herself to those who know her and now she and Del, along with so many others, are in grave need of help themselves. Please help Joyce and Del as they try to rebuild their lives. Any amount, no matter how small will help! All funds go directly to Joyce who will no doubt be immeasurably grateful. Thank you, Cathy Hodgson friend of Joyce's and fellow Kermit grad.
