My friend Jean (on the right) and me (on the left) went to high school together in Louisville Kentucky. I moved to Utah to pursue a sales job that I eventually invited Jean to do with me. We traveled through the country to do one of the hardest sales job on the planet, door to door sales. It’s one of those jobs with very high risk and very high reward. We both worked our asses off, 10+ hours a day, 6 days a week trying to make a buck. We signed with a big company, and we’re promised a commission in exchange. After a long 4 months, the job is over for the year. I loved Utah so much, I convinced Jean to move out there with me. Our paychecks from this job come in 3 parts. We got $50 up front, which mostly paid for rent and food, then the rest in October and December.
Moving across the country is fairly expensive, but we knew we had money from our sales job in the way. Once our October check is supposed to come in, the company we worked for shows us small print in the contract we signed that said we didn’t meat certain requirements to get paid what we were owed.
We both have leases to apartments to live in Utah. But just today jean called me and said his mom in Kentucky is having health issues and he will have to go home totake care of her. But he doesn’t have the money to go back home. Especially since he has a lease to live here.
It’s hard to explain Jean’s character until you’ve met him. But he has the mentality of do or die. He is grateful for everything he has, but he does not settle for anything, he wants to be a millionaire and nothing less. He was born in Jamaica, moved to Tanzania where he lived most his childhood until he moved to the United States. He never met his dad, so he is very close to his mom and other siblings. He speaks 5 fluent languages and wants nothing more than to climb his way to the top. And thatis why we are such good friends. We bothare hard workers who want nothing more than to succeed.
Lately he’s been struggling to pay for rent and he just found out his mom’s health is struggling, so he has to go home.
I don’t expect to raise $500, anything would be helpful, but Jean deserves the world even more than me. I look up to him a ton for having a positive attitude I’ve never seen before. He doesn’t make excuses and he doesn’t ask for help. That’s why I’m making this for him. If we could raise any amount of money for my friend that would help more than you know! Even if it’s just a little. Thank you so much
