<div>Hello, my name is Lloyd. I'm sharing my story because a single, preventable error by the system cost me my freedom, my home, and my sense of safety. I'm reaching out for help to rebuild from nothing.

<div><strong>What Happened</strong>:

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>On September 26th, my birthday, I was sitting in my car in Midtown Atlanta when an officer had me move for a truck. What should have been a simple interaction turned into a nightmare. The officer ran my information and claimed my license was suspended from a 2010 failure to appear—a issue I had already resolved in June of this year, after traveling to multiple counties, paying all fines, and having my license officially reinstated.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Despite my explanations, I was handcuffed on the spot. My car was searched, and I was charged with a list of violations, including possession of a Schedule II substance for crumbs I believe belonged to a passenger from the cash rides I'd been giving for extra income. I was arrested and taken to jail.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div><strong>The Unjust Incarceration</strong>:

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>My bail was set at a mere $100, but I was trapped. Because all my personal contacts were in my phone, which was taken into custody, I had no way to call anyone for help. The system would not allow me to pay my own bail. So, for almost a month, I remained jailed.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>I endured 20-hour lockdowns, was kept in shackles, and suffered debilitating panic attacks in a environment of constant fear. I left with deep psychological wounds, diagnosed with PTSD and anxiety that I battle every single day. There were moments the darkness felt absolute, and hope felt like a distant memory.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div><strong>The Bitter Truth and The Ongoing Struggle:</strong>

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>When I was finally released, I went straight to the DMV and the DeKalb Court of Records. They confirmed what I knew all along: it was an administrative error. My license should never have been suspended. They offered a profound apology, but an apology doesn't give me back that month of my life. It doesn't erase the trauma. An apology doesn't pay the impound fees on my car.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>My car was also my home. It contained everything I owned. It's been in impound since my arrest, and the fees have now skyrocketed to over $800. For the past week since my release, I have been sleeping outside, trying to piece my life back together. While I'm told the DeKalb Court is working on a judge's order to release my vehicle, a week has already passed, and I remain homeless.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>I am seeking legal representation to hold the city accountable for this wrongful arrest and the devastating consequences it has had on my life. But right now, I need immediate help to survive and get back on my feet.
