Vaccination is NOT the endgame…your titer is

What is a “titer”?

In the field of Immunology, the term “titer” refers to a number derived from a titration of a donated serum sample used in an immuno-assay (test for specific antibodies) that indicates the strength of an antibody response (in the above graph).

Titer’s matter:

Currently people are being asked to get a third and even a fourth shot.  These are all attempts to make sure that the neutralizing antibody titers are high enough to reduce symptoms of covid19’s variants.  

Unfortunately, not everyone responds to vaccines the same way and many of them aren’t interested in going back for more boosters.  Checking antibody titers would at least give individuals peace of mind or may help them make informed vaccine decisions.  

Moreover….those who have not been vaccinated may want to see if any exposure to seasonal coronaviruses cross react with the current pandemic strains for peace of mind.

Funds raised:
The funds raised in this campaign will be used to raise awareness for the actual “endgame” of this pandemic and others and that is your antibody response to the vaccine.  It is painfully clear scientifically irresponsible to create a false sense of security in any population that is under the threat of a pandemic that being vaccinated is all that is required to be “safe” from the pathologies of the virus.  Immunologists know that getting a vaccine is only the beginning of the process to being immune.  By not offering to titer people are vaccinated, they are all led to believe that they are “good” and that breeds a false sense of security.  Your antibody response to the neutralizing targets of this current virus (the vaccine target) is what counts and at a bare minimum would be the necessary readout to indicate whether someone may need boosts or to continue to safe practices.  We all make antibodies to vaccine targets with varied results.  In times like these, the most important data that can be generated for all of us and especially people with co-morbidities, elderly, etc is whether or not you produced enough of an antibody response to neutralize the virus at hand.
